Limiting Beliefs

As I was driving by a beautiful corn patch today, I found myself wondering how these neighbors got the corn to grow. It was almost a subconscious thought. I realized I’ve been holding onto the belief that it’s impossible for me to grow corn. I’ve only tried once, and it didn’t go well, so my mind decided it wasn’t possible.

Our brains are powerful. Isn’t it fascinating how a single experience can shape such strong beliefs about what’s possible? My mind formed a limiting belief based on that one failed attempt at growing corn. This is really common — our brains like to generalize from past experiences, especially when they didn’t go as we’d hoped. But the cool thing is that awareness of this limiting belief gives us the power to challenge and reshape the belief.

This is a silly example, but we all have limiting beliefs that come from our past experiences.

Have you ever realized that deep down, you don’t truly believe it’s possible to achieve something you’ve been wanting to do? Maybe you are even getting in your own way and sabotaging your efforts just to become frustrated with the whole thing and give up.
